Well, did install a new Trooper skid plate to protect the transmission shortly after purchase in 1999. That Trooper skid plate fit perfectly to the VX. As I faintly recall, the biggest challenge was buying screws to fit the pre-drilled holes in the frame. Can't imagine removing the front end, though.

Honestly, now that I've done it a few times, it takes like 5 mins, tops. Grille comes out (2 10mm bolts on top and 2/3 screws in the grille face, can't remember exactly), then you take off the cladding screws, and including the screws in the wheel wells and the 3 underneath. Slides right off after that.
