I appreciate all the well-wishers. It was a shock. It doesn't quite seem real. And, I keep replaying what might have happened, what should/could have been better in our lives, and that it can't be undone.

Still, I know he was heading toward harder and harder times. His health was causing him a lot of pain and he was such a lover of westerns, JWayne, and going out with style. I know one of his favorite movies was the Shootist.

He really liked the idea of going out in a blaze. Not quite the same thing here, but much closer to what he wanted than losing mobility, being in pain, and only being able to watch as the final part of his life passed by.

He was a man of a different age/generation...one who should have lived in the "Old West". That's how we'll be celebrating his life tomorrow -- as that's how he always wished he could have lived.

If you remember Rooster Cogburn in True Grit (either the final fence-jumping seen or where he rode across the field in battle), you'll instantly know the spirit of my Dad.

Sure he'll be missed, but I also know that kind of spirit can't have it any other way.

Cheer's dad! May you have peace soaring in the clouds.

Remember that life is not measured in the breaths you take, but rather in the moments that take your breath away.
