?? for those who have shipped/recieved...

Question for those who have shipped or recieved large cladding pieces. What shipping method was used and what was the approx. cost? How was the item boxed/wrapped to protect it?
    Thanks for your responses.

Skip the USPS as too expensive. Each time I used a slightly larger box with normal packing material with no issues. In a pinch I have used old newspaper plastic bags. I blew them up and tied them and they lasted fine.

I shipped a nose cone to Richard in TX from VA. I used Greyhound. It took about a week but AFAIK it arrived in good condition. I just taped boxes around it as best I could. T'weren't pretty but they accepted it.

The bad thing about Greyhound for me is I have to meet the bus at 10pm or 7am something like that. We do not have a full service greyhound station north of Milwaukee WI. The bus driver never called me ahead of time like they said he would. So my vintage Recaros got damaged from the drivers dragging them from bus to bus for three days. I did use them again for a fiberglass bumper and had good luck with that.

    Billy....

    I got a rear cladding...via Fed Ex.

No box...wrapped in Bubble and lots o'duct tape...

    ...label stuck on it.

    Arrived safe and sound.

Actual poundage is in yer favor...but dimensions are not.

    Somewhat of a trade off.

I forgot about one method of transport that I used:

I strapped a front fender cladding to the outside of my suitcase once & checked it with the airline. There were a few raised eyebrows but they accepted it AND it arrived without damage. Hand delivered it to the new owner the next day. I've also hand delivered 2 sets of diff drop brackets in the same manner.

I know, not very apropo but it was an interesting experience.
