    Your 2001 Vx OEM wheels are plated and polished alloy material. So anything that won't etch aluminum should work. I would try to avoid the power ball as it may remove too much material.

    For chrome, start with either #000 or #0000 steel wool, then your Mothers kit should do well. I like the metal/chrome polish Blitz, or Flitz, that comes in a toothpaste-like tube. Good luck, the VX rim chrome is thin, but mine shined up great before being introduced to a Nebraska. winter.
