I looked at this thing before we got the Forester. Much nicer interior than the Forester, but I was disappointed in the performance for the higher price. Pay that much more for the turbo and it was still only 0-60 in around 7sec. For the sticker price (it was $28k IIRC), we could get into a fully loaded Forester XT or WRX, with much better performance (and standard AWD!).

Now, of course, I was the only one who saw this "bang for the buck" performance value, and my g/f could have given a hair on a rat's arse, heh. Settled with the non-turbo Forester with complete pretty-me-up package. *shrug*

I had my eye on them for a while but after seeing it/driving it/researching it more, I just was not sold. I think it just lacks everything I have come to NEED in a car. I will give Hyundai one thing though.... they have come a long way, and when they decide to finally start stepping on toes and leading the market in various categories, they are gonna have to put little effort into doing so. They seem to be testing the waters now....

Chopper - How does the car know who's its owner? Do you have to voice print ID or something?

It seems to me that they've dumped a ton of money (along with Kia) into the design budget, and as a result I think it's fair to say they make some of the nicest looking autos out there. The next step seems to be the power train. Do they have a hybrid or diesel power plant in their global consumer market portfolio?

Hundai has a Sonata Hybrid. They also offer diesels in other parts of the world. Hyundai announced plans to produce 2,000 units of fuel-cell car for lease in the global market.

If I'm Toyota or Honda I'm terrified of the day those options hit the American market.

One word. Equus. I have not driven it (they would not allow test drives without an appt), but I tore through it with a mag glass and loved every detail. If I gave a hoot about luxury, I would honestly consider this over a MB or Beemer, ESPECIALLY for the price. It isn't a world cheaper, but it is cheaper, and clones just about every aspect of every luxury car you can think of.

Hyundai has stepped into the shallow waters of the luxury market, and dabbled with the Genesis sport coupe (though it falls steeply short here), so they are totally in it to win it. We all laughed a decade ago, but they just may be laughing tomorrow.

Hyundai has come a long way, they have great vehicles! We test drove a Veloster when they first came out, it was having a tranny issue.......but Greg (Orion on this site) still ended up with an Elantra and man it is loaded and nice, feel like I am in a Lexus! Technology I tell ya! Even my new Mini is just amazing, when I DO drive my VX it feels sooooo old ........and I JUST let Greg drive mine 7/4 after having had the Mini for about 6 wks, and he didnt even 'get on it' when I told him he could since the break in is over......

    Congrats Wayne on the ride!!!
