    Question AR-5 to LS Engine...

    Hi all,

I've been doing tons of research on engine swaps, and have come across something that needs validation from anyone who may know...

From what I'm seeing, there is a company that makes an adapter for the Jeep AX15 5-speed tranny to mount to an LS engine. They say that it will also work with the Isuzu/GM AR-5! (For those that don't know, the AR-5 is the Trooper 5-Speed that VT Maverick swapped into his VX... as well as a couple others I believe).

So, does this sound right or is it science fiction? Is the AX15 the same/similar to the AR-5?
If so... this would potentially allow us to keep TOD, have a bolt-in 5 speed, and an LSx engine!

    Here are my sources:

By Jove, I think you're onto something! I found this over on JalopyJournal:

"The Jeep/Dodge AX15 5-speed, the Jeep NV3550 5-speed, the Jeep NV1500, the Toyota R150F, R151F & R155F, the 87-92 Toyota Supra Turbo R154, the Isuzu AR5 and the Pontiac Solstice\Saturn Sky\Chevy Colorado\ GMC Canyon MA5 5-speeds all share the same case to bellhousing bolt pattern (Large Pattern). As such there are a number of possibilities that can be had when a 5-speed is desired"

If you're looking for a V8 swap that retains TOD it appears there's a way.

So... what's the torque rating on our TOD unit?

The Supra Turbo six is a cast iron block that can be tuned to generate 1000+ HP. Who needs a V8?

You got me all excited Mav... then I saw that the Supra engine is way prior to 2001. Can't use it with NV emissions laws for swaps.

Lol - well I'm pretty sure you'd need straight pipes too so that would have done you in anyway.

The supra engine is quite rare too. But thats a bulletproof block. I have seen that engine take abuse.

Toyota engines = gas milage increase... ? hmmm...
