Dual Air Intake

Well, I worked on this for a while and was happy with the results...until 10 miles down the road I got a check engine light for lean condition. Too bad. The intake was bought from eBay, it's kind of generic...fits Dodge Ram, and Corevette among others.




I had to cut this much.



if anyone has an idea how to avoid the code, I would post a How-To. wasn't too difficult.

That thing above the air filter on the right is called a Mass Air Sensor. I suggest you try incorporating it between the intake and throttle body.

That's simply amazing. I suggest you check out what's between the dual intake and the throttle body. THAT's called a MAS as well.

the intake can't make it lean unless the system has a leak. you could theoretically run with no intake and that wouldn't make it lean. the problem is elsewhere.

that's really good to know...so an air leak somehow maybe behind the MAS? There could be air there. I used a very thin gasket.

Could be that or maybe a problem with the modded MAS. On the grand nationals you could pull one MAS screen, but if you pulled both, the turbulence would skew the readings.

Got a obd tester with reading capability? or Swap the stock MAS on the front of the TB TEMPORARILY(no air filter!) and see if you still get a lean code.

The engine can't draw more air due to intake design without forced induction, but, it can draw in more unmetered air through a leak, than the computer can compensate for.
