I suspect more than a few here are not familiar with Akira. Don't compare it to an action movie, compare it to a superhero/sci-fi movie. Like "psychic batman in the 22nd century" or something. It looks a little less hokey that way. The graphic novel was freaking awesome.

Any movie where the car/actors look designed like the inevitable toy to come. Really the one piece bright red jump suit same color as the motorcycle? How Doushie
