Really no need to apologize Coastie. I'm of the opinion that you are in no way whatsoever alone when it comes to worrying about the direction a lot of things seem to be taking these days, regardless of how carefree some may wish you to believe they actually are.
My only suggestion to those who may have similar worries is that, religious beliefs or not, the serenity wisdom prayer is applicable for pretty much all of life's various trials.
