I remember seeing a commercial for tail lights that come on quicker and providing a safety enhancement (I think it was Audi back in the mid 90's). I remember thinking at the time that it was a really good sales pitch but that it probably wouldn't make any difference in the real world.

Ranks right up there with Mercedes advertising that they now (as of last year) sell cars with self drying brakes which decrease stopping distance. Again, a really good sales pitch on something that's been available for 30 years ... they're called disc brakes (pads always in contact with rotor = self drying).

I'm not trying to convince anyone to avoid doing the mod, just understand that the benefits are questionable.
