Need Help with License Plate LEDs

    Guys,

I ordered these LEDs from V-LEDs for my license plate lights and tried to install them last week, but unfortunately they blow the fuse every time I try to install them. I did some searching here and found rowhard's thread on this topic:

I had license plate LEDs in my last VX and I remember doing the contact bend trick to make them work. But the thing is the V-LEDs part doesn't have bendable contacts (at least as far as I can tell). They appear to be part of the circuit board itself. See pic:

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to fix the problem? Is it possible to somehow "cover" one of the contacts on the circuit board to accomplish the same effect as bending a metal contact? Suggestions are much appreciated.

    Thanks!

Fingernail polish (I suggest Moab Cinnemon color) may provide enough isolation & should survive the installation. It should be easy enough to remove if it doesn't work.

Which terminal(s) would I paint? One on each side? Both on one side? Both lefts? Front left and back right?

Electrical tape would probably work too. From how my connectors worked id say probably cover opposite corners

Sounds like a quick and easy thing to try, thanks Erick. If it works I'll probably go back and do the nail polish trick that Tom recommended. Just a lot easier to move tape around while I'm experimenting than to keep cleaning and reapplying acrylic.

    Fingers crossed...

I ordered those as well (the first time) and used electric tape to cover one side on both sides. Worked fine for quite a while. Next time I got these and like these a lot better and you don't have that issue:
