Moab meet

Hey All,

Im really thinking about driving down for Moab to meet everyone and have some awesome VX fun.

The problem i have is i have no info about the 2012 meet. If anyone could help me out with;

-when
-where
-sites that everyone stays at
-stuff i would need to bring along
-and any mods for my vx that would be good to get before the meet

any info would be much appreciated and i hope i can bring some more VX'rs down with me

YES! You won't regret it! Definitely something to experience at least once. Kenny usually comes from Winnipeg.

KEEP IN MIND: You DO NOT have to tear up your truck to have a ton of fun. Some of the gang go on the crazy trails, some of us more sane individuals (well, that's debatable eh VX Crazy & Dub?)...but I digress....some of us go on great trails, with some great rocks, ledges, and the scenery is magnificent. MANY 1st timers (incl me) went totally stock and did fine. On the Tuesday of the week, we go on the "VX Only Run"...but it's now kind of renamed to the "Zu's" only and it's always a trail a total stocker can handle. I'm not lifted but did upsize the tires a bit, gained about 1" - 1 1/4" height...and wow, did that little inch make a difference! (oops...that's what she said....)
BTW, can you tell we have a lot of good fun and laughs while hanging with the gang on the stoop?...

hahahaha yeah i searched the whole forum and read a lot but really wanted to confirm with individuals and see what you guys thought i should bring to the meet, being from canada and trying to get the other calgary VX'rs to join me

i am also in calgary i really wanted to go to moab but dont know if it in the cards for me this year.... what part of town are u in

I am hoping to try and make an appearance this year.

1500 miles each way is alot of gas money.....and oil money...

4 days travel time...1-2 days stay time.....

....but I need to do it at least once

Well Jon, here's an idea....
Fly out.....(probably a lot cheaper than driving/fuel/hotels, and rooms at the Red Rock are around $59-$69/night)

1) And I'll make the same offer to you that I've made to others....you're welcome to be my seatmate any time (and we can split the day too), and then when I'm too tired to do a trail, I stay at the stoop and you take my VX.....especially cuz I know you're even more conservative than ME with the truck! Remember, mine is ARMORED....this is the reason I did it...so I don't have to worry that much about messing it up too badly!!

...oh, almost forgot Jo's favorite on my truck.....

..my POS plastic fake front and rear skids...which are NOT ARMOR....we can remove them.....
But I do have the COOLEST CARGO BOXES in the back...they're really handy on the Moab trip!

FYI...I usually sit out Wed and Friday cuz I'm too pooped. Last year I rode with tjh (Travis) on one of these days cuz he does crazy stuff in a basically stock VX...I love to see that stuff...and we had a total blast!..if I did that I could WATCH you

....and get great pics of my own VX for a change...instead of Larry's butt all the time....

...

......And this is a dead serious offer, no kidding!

2) Another idea....fly to Denver and then ride out with one of the Denver area gang that usually caravan....pbkid, mSHardeman, VXorado maybe, maybe some others....

3) Or fly to Phoenix, or maybe Flaggstaff, and I pick you up and continue the drive with me......

It's 2 hrs to Flag, then about another 5-6 hrs to Moab.

TRAVIS.......AKA "KAMAKAZI TRAVIS".....NOTICE I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK FOR THESE!!!!

LARRY'S BACK SIDE...(although it's not a bad back side to follow...best way for me to learn lines to take!!)

.....OK, SO I DIDN'T ACTUALLY DO THIS ONE....

Thank you so much for the offer. That actually sounds like a really good idea.

I would miss not having MY truck, but the cost savings may be worth it.

I'll run some number and give it some thought.

For kicks I just mapped out the trip - 2,200 miles, each way.

Flying out there and riding along as a human cupholder option might be the only way for me. Will investigate!
