That sounds awful - sorry to hear about your troubles.
Are you buying parts through Merlin @ St Charles Isuzu (800) 727-8066? He's really great when it comes to all things VehiCROSS.

I don't know if the ignition lock out has anything to do with your key issue, but I know a few members have run into problems similar to yours.
Maybe contact etlsport, looks like he's had a similar issue:

"The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong, it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair."

I have had a similar problem now and then.
The cure for me...
When in Park, and the key wont come out....
... give the shifter a good "nudge" forward..
.... without depressing the shift button.
This seems to properly engage the key release.
I hope it works for you too.

After Dub's experience, I bought this lock cylinder on ebay...."says" it fits ours, but I don't know for sure as never installed it. The 2 keys it comes with are NOT marked as ISUZU or have the logo, but they do "look" like our OEM Isuzu keys.

Remember that life is not measured in the breaths you take, but rather in the moments that take your breath away.
I would say just paint the key black so it's not noticeable in the ignition, then use the keyless remote to lock and unlock your doors, but that wouldn't help you get into the back hatch unless you have an extra key. Not only that, the fact that the key won't come out could be an indication that the tumblers in the switch itself may have something wrong with them and could stop working altogether.
