    VX Gender???

The thread about naming a VX made me remember a question I have been wondering about for a while.
I tried finding some answers in search but failed. So...

How do you all decide the gender of your vehicle ?
Mine was an "it" or "the truck" till after my wreck when I named it "Humpty". Now I think its a him.

Although I failed to find answers here, I did find this article on the internet:
    http://www.squidoo.com/car-male-or-female
42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

One of the responses to that article you posted pretty much summed it up for me.

"I've never named any of my cars, but I've had cars that I called a lot of names."

I am mostly curious though about folks who feel like vehicles have a gender.
Cause despite naming one finally, I still feel weird about all that stuff. heheh. LOL

Oddly, I haven't found a desire to name mine. I sometimes refer to it as my "Kaiser" in the forum but among my friends here locally its just the "VX".

As far as gender goes it depends on the situation.

If I'm taking care of her, repairing or washing, waxing etc.. its definitely female. On the road or trail I'd be more likely to regard it as male.

My cars have always had a gender. Usually female, because it sounds better to talk about getting in and out of a female car than a male one. Right now the story I use is; my VX's name is Victoria, Vicki if you know her pretty well, and just Vee when you've been in and out of her as much as I have.

I don't know what the mentality is, but I always refer to the VX as if it were a person when I talk about it, as in "Vicki and I went rolling around town the other night", "Vicki is acting up today and is being a bit cranky", "Vicki stubbed her toe on a rock in Moab."
"The major difference between a thing that might go wrong and a thing that cannot possibly go wrong is that when a thing that cannot possibly go wrong goes wrong, it usually turns out to be impossible to get at or repair."

Actually I've lost women over the VX. One, in particular, took to calling the VX "baby". I didn't realize that it was supposed to be derogetory until I saw her a couple of years later and she said something about "baby". A mutual friend who was nearby, heard the tone she used, and made a comment about it. I, jokingly, said that yea, she (the ex) was just jealous of the attention that I gave the VX. The ex turned to me with an angry look and said that yes, she had been jealous of the attention that I gave the VX. Oops.

    Love me; love my truck.....
