Well I just got a quote from my local shop. $550 labor alone! this just seems absurd to me, anyone else had theirs replaced for cheaper?

From what I've read here, if you follow the how to guide on the site and know a wrench from a hammer, you can do it in a couple hours. Sounds a lot better than 550 bucks!

Good news, they just called me back and told me they found and easier way of doing it and it wont take as many hours as before. The price has been lowered to $200. Im happy with that lol

Thats typical pricing for a CV boot replacement because the shop is usually charging for a full axle drop.

You should replace it yourself because its one of the easiest fixes on the VX. The job might take you a couple hours the first time but once you get used to it an inner boot can be replaced in under an hour.

...with your update, $200 isn't bad but I still recommend you replace it yourself because you'll probably have many more torn boots in the future if you stay lifted without a diff drop.

** Make sure you talk to your shop BEFORE they start working on the CV boot about NOT FUBARing the ABS sensor in the process!!! It's about $400 for one OEM sensor!! Don't ask me how I know....
(But you can run without that sensor...just don't have ABS to that wheel....or maybe that axle..not sure, anybody??)

Here's the thread with the info on it....
