Oil consumption - new info?

The bulletin reads 6VE1, so its entirely relative to our engines.

It also states that
"The sump and dipstick design is such that for a vehicle under normal driving conditions, customers may need to add oil before the next service"

Thats seems a tad lame for one of these early model gas-o-line 'engines' manufactured at the turn of the century. 1.5 Quarts per 3000 Miles... But we know that part already. We must be getting oil loss through the dipstick?

Holden reckons they had a big batch of faulty cats, that started to disintegrate.

Under high engine vacuume conditions (ie closed throttle gearing down when coming up to a corner) little particles of the disintegrating cats would be sucked up into the engine via the EGR valve, then the pieces of said cats would start carving the crap out of the bores, killing any chance the rings have of sealing.

The fix is new motor, new cats, and new ECU programming to change EGR behavior under the above conditions.

And yes, Rodeos are crap.

The EGR pickup is close to the cat???

This is very interesting info !

I guess isuzu is finally admitting fault on their poorly designed engines,especially our 3.5L engines.

Next year i'll be looking into rebuilding my engine and all this info will be helpfully when time comes.
