also how wide are your rims? 285's wont fit on a 7 inch rim??
Ususally 265 is about as big as you can safely go.

We look forward to hearing what you finally choose!!! Still, my #1 pick for you would be the lightweight G/Y - DuraTrac in 265/75R16-112/109Q (31.8" O.D./45 lbs) with 18/32nds tread depth and is Snowflake/Mountain rated. A word of caution when shopping: There are two(2) G/Y DuraTrac versions available in this size, so be sure to specify the "112/109Q" (service/speed rating) version as it is the lightweight model that weighs only 45 lbs (see www.TireRack.com for clarification). Lastly, please check-out the Photo Gallery of "PittVXr" and see them for yourself on a VX!!!

It's all about your personal risk tolerance I think. Riff will swoop in and tell you that you'll be just fine, and there are certainly enough members here that run 285's on their stock 7" rims with no problem, but you are correct in that the manufacturers don't recommend it. Personally I wouldn't do it, but then again I have an infant and a 2 year old in the VX all the time now (Axiom engine is having an issue) so I don't want the risk of a separation at speed.

I've had the Goodyear Dura tracs for 2 winters and I can say they have been excellent in the snow. I like that they are not too loud on the street either. I would buy them again in a heartbeat.

I got the e option I believe the heavier load option. Road noise is not even noticeable and tread pattern is very aggressive but still more of a all terrain road tire. I put on a decent amount of miles daily and wanted something that wasn't to noisy but will still handle the snow and mud when up for some fun.

From the pics, the tread pattern sure looks like a Bridgestone Dueler Revo. Great tire.

Shoot those were some good tires I sent you!

Sorry that happened, what you had them just a month or so?

    - I have always liked Geolander MT
    - But my next purchase will be from treadwright...they are the old Wrangler MTR tread.
