    Is this a good deal?

So I want to buy a fuel efficient 4x4 something small and easy to get around in that I don't much care about a nice interior like my VX. I found this Amigo on local craigslist and want to get it, seems cheap. But it is 20 years old and has nearly 200,000 miles! I'm pretty confident in my wrenching abilities and the add says it runs good. I'm sure there are things that need fixed. What does everyone here think?

Probably not going to get much better mpg in that than the VX. None of the Zu's get very good mileage...if that is what you are looking to get it for.

Oh, I was thinking they got mileage like all the Samurai's claim. They all claim 30mpg or close to it. Damn!

    Forget the Amigo and re-focus your search for a 1996 -- 1998 Suzuki X-90 that gets 28 MPG with a traditional 4x4 transfer case (2H; 4H; 4L). 'Nuff said.

I was looking at those last night some as well. All the ones I saw came with automatic man-card revocation

This is a fun little car

I loved mine till my brother tried to mate it with a deer. Figure that back cover is going to cost you about $800 if you can't find a deal. And it is needed. These are basic run well and do not have a lot to mess up.

Actually, for a daily driver/good mpg with some offroad capability a samarai is probably your best bet. They can be picked up cheap and there are a ton ot aftermarket products for them to create anything from a mild to extreme offroader.
If you keep your eyes open you can find them with newer fuel injected suzuki sidekick engines swapped in that get even better mpg.

I found these to be a little more expensive than I think they are worth. Mostly due to people who tow a car behing their RV seem to love them so the supply of good ones are limited

There are a LOT of samurai's locally, and I wouldn't even mind an older carb'd model.

Bob, I spent months looking for my X90, and have generally kept an eye on the market since buying one. It seems to me there are more manuals out there than autos, so I would not dismiss the X90 for that reason. It is a polarizing body style though, some people hate on it.
