Higher octane would be a very smart thing to use since there isn't a way to adjust timing, or fuel flow, or account for the extra incoming air from a s/c.

If I had the money to spare on this, and not another project already, I'd love to do something with a s/c. I still think the only real way to get real performance from one of these units is to find a way to alter the factory ecu settings. I sent SCT an email like a month ago and got completely ignored! The only real option I've found is the very expensive replacement unit from an Australian company.

You don't only need to worry about the fuel and ignition. The VX transmission isn't rated to handle more than another 60 or so foot-pounds of torque. The Alpine S/C boosts the engine output just about to the limits of the transmission, along with the limits of the stock injectors and fuel maps.
