After a decade or so though Jeepers became like hotrodders - shared involvment with a movement, hobby, passion, vehicle... Then came the Bronco, International, what-have-you. Then the idiots started jumping on the bandwagon and flooded what was a downhome brand of fun. Now there are douche bags in Jeeps, Toyotas, Isuzus, Fords, Nissans... and many more. They all wave to their similars - no different than any of you in a VX... so all you Matt Lauer's CAN SUCK IT!
so you are a fan of the jeep wave

I dunno, I got a nod (busy turning so he couldn't wave) from a guy on a sport bike while out in the VX.

I am a fan of waving to people on the trails. They are just most often driving Jeeps - I am a bit of a Jeep fan. I am a fan of waving to anyone in a VX no matter what I am driving at the time or where I am. If I see a modified vehicle I like, no matter what brand, I might give a thumbs up or a wave to show that I am a fan. The rules and regulations to the Jeep wave are simply attempts at humor - I am a fan of humor. But it's not like people in Jeeps even go around waving at other Jeeps all the time anyway. Less and less does "the Jeep wave" even occur. A person in a simple CJ or other early Jeep will wave more than someone in a newer Jeep while on the street. It's more of an old-school nostalgia or character thing than it is brand identification in my opinion. As I say that though, perhaps there is an underlying link to Willys/Overland, Kaiser, and AMC Jeeps (big fan)? Either way, newer models (Chryslers - not as much a fan) and their owners don't really belong to the history/character as much. With that said, while in a CJ or YJ (big fan), I have waved at those in old Broncos (fan), Scouts (fan), Patrols (fan), FJ's (fan of the real ones)... I guess I still consider that a Jeep wave because again, to me it is not about brand indentification. Since I am in an old Jeep noticing someone in another type of classic 4x4 (big fan) I like to say hi and show that traditional Jeepers are not elitists (not a fan of elitists) like so many VXers could be perceived. So in that sense, yes, I guess I am a fan of the Jeep wave! Now if I am in a Jeep or a GM and I see a VX, I am waving as a VXer from the heart so that to me is a VX wave... of which I am also a fan. Along the lines of what was inside the link Jamas posted... come on, it's a joke. I am a fan of jokes.

And BTW, there are things known as 4x4 clubs (fan), Jeep clubs (fan), 4x4 forums (fan)... They are really helpful in meeting people to wheel with! I am a BIG fan of wheeling with people! So sometimes if someone in a Jeep waves to someone else in a Jeep they might actually know or recognize each other..... nah, no way..... (I am a fan of smilies too)

Strange, the wife and I took the VX out tonight for our date. I got waved at by two different Jeeps, one was nicely equipped CJ, may have actually been wheeled, the other was a newer 4dr with lots of super trail worthy mods....lol, looked like someone got ahold of a JC Whitney shopping spree I waved back to the first one, not so much the second one.

I do wave at most 4x4s that look trail worthy and at ANY brand vehicle I see on the trails.

I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.
