I put on some magnaflow high flow cats, paid about $125 each. The entire system with cats, muffler, resonator was $900 with labour.

But being in Cali, you have a whole section for you:

So assuming half off MSRP, roughly $300 each....

Mine lasted about a year or two. Some of the mesh interior blew out the tail pipes. Some of it ended up wedged in my resonators and caused some vibration noise for a week until it broke down.

I don't get any CEL from the O2 sensors.

    good luck!

If this car ever goes back to California (which is what the original owner has been promising for...oh...six years), he will need to re-install all that crap to get it even near passing inspection. The original air pump and vacuum lines are still installed and are a nightmare to work around. That emissions check is what has him too scared to return it to Californication.
But I would pull all that junk off. It costs power and as you said gets in the way. Easier to sell and buy another 82 in Ca. It's not like the 82 was a special model.

THIS '82 IS special - It was purchased new by my then brother-in-law, sold to my other (now deceased) brother-in-law, before coming into my ex-wife's possession. It's sentimental value far outweighs it's monetary value, which is why I am willing to GIVE it back to him --free! All he has to do is pay to ship it back to Cali. I might just re-install the original intake and exhaust since I don't drive it much anymore, and the headers and dual exhaust tips are both rusting externally. (sorry for the thread jack.)

Oh, yeah, the 1982 model was the first to have the 5.0 HO engine - The slogan that year -- "The BOSS is back!"
