Did you look into the aftermarket high flow cad converters? Pretty sure they are under $500. And you might pick up a horsepower or two!

Just did a quick search and found several high flow brands ranging in price from $150 to 295 (stainless steel).

Because you guys have some strict emission standards. Just take yours out and gut it...

A lot of them have platinum in them as part of the catalyst.

    Magna FLow lists this one

    2000 3.5L LEV; D/S-P/S YSZXT03.52JK UNIVERSAL CATALYTIC CONVERTER 45105 $692.50

Thats MSRP so you might get one cheaper, I see them advertized on the Web for less that $200.00

Not a "William", born a Billy, but thats okay!

Sounds like you need to take a trip across the boarder into Arizona to get your Cats! Phoenix is a short weekend trip that would give you lots of options. With the trip you get a little vacation and still come out way cheaper than that $1300 price tag!

I lived there as a kid and would never go back. Going back to visit is bad enough...I hate the overcrowded everything! Only thing I miss is the beach.

    Sorry Junky.
My '82 Mustang is a California car, so it came with special emissions equipment. When I replaced the engine about 10 years ago, I installed all new intake/carb and a complete cat-free dual exhaust, BUT I kept all of the original intake/exhaust pieces. If this car ever goes back to California (which is what the original owner has been promising for...oh...six years), he will need to re-install all that crap to get it even near passing inspection. The original air pump and vacuum lines are still installed and are a nightmare to work around. That emissions check is what has him too scared to return it to Californication.
