Agree on every. single. point. except that capitalism's got nothing to do with this. The nanny-state we're lamenting is on the other end of the spectrum.

I threw capitalism in there because its all about making money under the guise of safety....especially in the case of speed limits.

Anyway, if you're gonna play, you gotta pay, as they say, so I guess I should just accept it.
