    Power For Accessories?

I'm wondering if there is a convenient power source inside the firewall for powering accessories. I just installed some foglights, and wired the 2nd power lead (not the one that draws much current, it is more of a on off switch so that the lights can only function when there is power, preventing you from leaving them on) to my cigarette lighter fuse in the fuse box. this was intended to be a temporary fix, since it is ugly and not very nice. I'm also going to install a rear door opener when I get some time and am wondering where to power it.

So what I'm asking is: Where is the best place to power internal accessories? (both all time and only when the key is turned)
Or do I just need to go through the firewall and go straight to the battery?

oh and pictures are always great

I mounted one of THESE to the firewall and ran a 6 gauge battery cable to it for power to my accessories. Then used relays to operate them. For lights I connect the relay to the parking light circuit so I dont leave them on. For stuff you want to turn off with the key you can use a relay connected to a circuit that is controlled by the key.
