For the prices they are charging for parts I would suggest you buy the parts yourself and then shop around for the best price on the labor.
For oem stuff give Merlin a call and also Matt at Indy4x. Matt also has some nice heavy duty tie rods for about the same as the shop wanted to charge for who knows what brand.

I did this all myself in my garage very easy. All parts can be found on amazon or on RockAuto.com

Tie Rod ends are $20-$30 each on RockAuto. Or here on Amazon:

    http://www.amazon.com/Beck-Arnley-10...sr=1-1-catcorr

You will need a bench vise to hold the Tie Rod while you get the nut loose and then the end loose as well.

MAKE SURE YOU NOTE WHICH WAY THE THREAD GOES!!!!! One of the Tie Rod ends will be reverse threaded. Measure the exact distance between the center of the tie rod ends before removing. Going from memory it should be 13.2" center to center I believe. That info is on here in the VX manual (database). Hardest part is to get the Tie Rod ends to break loose, you will need one of these for sure:

    http://www.amazon.com/Grizzly-G8995-...4078940&sr=1-1

Get that as tight as you can, and then hit it loose. Make sure to apply plenty of anti-seize on there when reinstalling.
