Thumbs up Isuzu returns to the US!

Isuzu and Toyota agree to develop two new vehicles for US market. According to sources, the new Isuzus are expected to reach Toyota showrooms as early as March of 2013. Select Toyota franchises across the U.S. will be designated as Isuzu sales and service facilities very much the same way Chrysler is bringing Fiat back after 25 years. , Although it has only been a three year absence for Isuzu, the initial offerings will ride the “retro” wave so popular with today’s buyers. Isuzu executives say one will be an updated version of the Gemini (Buick Opel) not seen here since 1984 that will also be sold as the Toyota FT-EV and featuring the 1.6L diesel motor the two manufacturers developed in 2007, The second will be a compact SUV which has yet to be named, but which insiders say resembles a slightly smaller Amigo (Isuzu’s best selling SUV in the US). The new “Amigo” will be offered with a turbocharged version of the 1.6L in either two or four wheel drive.

It'd be nice to get some affordable small diesel vehicles over here...right now if you want a diesel SUV you are limited to high-end Euro vehicles or full size American rigs.

LOL, I knew the story was bogus right from the start for 2 reasons:

(1). There ain't gonna' be jack squat coming out of Japan until they rebuild that entire country first (which will take a very, very long time). Then again, maybe existing rusted vehicles will be newly refurbished.

(2). Isuzu is a subsidiary company of GM, and has never had any corporate ties with competitor Toyota. Nice try, Popeye.

Cute attempt at a April Fool's Joke. LOL

I think it was at least a little convincing because it WAS a little bit true. Although Isuzu is in no way involved in Toyota's FT-EV or is likely to bring the Amigo or THIS back to market, the information about Isuzu working with Toyota is all over the intraweb ...

Nice try at shooting holes in this story. Better work on your aim a bit though...

Actually, GM sold almost all its shares with Isuzu back around 2006, and when they did, thats when Isuzu started bailing out of the US, before the economy hit the fan. And Toyota did buy some stocks with Isuzu back in 2006, they bought 5.9% of the stocks. In result, they do plan on building in the future together. Also Mitsubishi owns 7.2% of Isuzu stocks. At the end, it comes down to who wants to have a part of Isuzu, just because of their legendary Diesel engines. I hate to brake the news guys, but our lovely Isuzu likes to get around, and we know through history, it has always like to flirt with many companies.
