Hey, the time to invest in a scooter or a cheap-o car is here. Something that gets very cheap Gas prices on a full fill, because I will tell you all this, I will rather paddle a canoe on a highway then get ride of my VX.

Yup, paid $3.59 yesterday for 89. Soooo glad we're not going to Wisconsin this summer. Feel bad for everybody heading out to Moab (for gas at least).

    Never

what is the good of owning the VX if you leave it parked and drive a scooter? Drive less, car pool, keep it tuned up sure but leave it parked? never

Heck switch to a cheaper beer

I just bought the wife a 35 mpg car if I get 15 mpg with the vx, then that means we get 25 mpg each right?

Gill and I convoyed BOTH our VXes to Moab in 2008... Gas was in the high $4 range. We paid around $700 round trip EACH! That's $1,400 for our household, just to go... It was SOOOOOO worth it!

My dad takes a Go-Ped to work everyday to avoid putting miles on the VX. He even takes the Go-Ped in the rain so the VX doesn't get dirty. He even bought a second Go-Ped with a seat to give his knees a break. The Go-Ped is gas powered and he gets close to 100 mpg! And you don't need a motorcycle license for it!

Gas has hit 4.25 a gallon here on the Big Island diesel is more but at least the jetta gets 40-45mi a gallon Still have to drive the VX for fun tho, some things are just worth it By the way has anyone seen the latest pictures of our volcano and new lava flow? very cool

Filled up the other day in the Tampa Bay area of Florida.
Sam's Club $ 3.39 a gallon. Now I see the prices over $ 3.50 in just a few days and no end in sight. I have been driving my Isuzu Rodeo Sport and keeping the VX in the garage. I love both cars but with the price of gas might have to look for something with more MPG.

For me, being a gas mizer with my daily driver has been a way of life ever since gas went over the $4 mark the first time some years ago.

My daily driver is a 1980 Ford Fiesta (41 MPG), and my wifey's is a 1991 Ford Festiva (41 MPG). We use the VX for special road trips, a jaunt off-road or when the roads turn bad with snow & ice.

One of the best gas mizer vehicles ever produced was the infamous Honda CRX-HF that got well over 50+ MPG. They seemed to run on gas vapor by sniffing the fumes. Yup, now's the time to buy a cheapo gas mizer car for a DD and only use the VX for pleasure outings.

I would love to drive the VX every day, but now the pocket is running empty faster cuz of gas it hit 3.69 here in New Smyrna Beach. Will never give her up, but I'm not rich "yet". So a little beater on the way real soon. Been looking at VW Rabbits, Honda CRXs, Datsuns, pretty much anything not build past 1989 and not domestic. little import 4 bangers is in my cross hairs.

When it gets a little warmer here (and less snowy) I'll switch over to riding my "scooter" too:

She (Rayne) gets 45 mpg....if I can stay off the throttle.

A 1980 Ford Fiesta...Wow. I got married in 85 and that is what my wife had. We took it from Michigan to Florida for our honeymoon.

I drive my VX every day that its not 70+ and sunny and only fill up every other week. I live less than 10 miles from my work, so the rise in gas prices doesnt affect me too much.

I drive the VX in the winter/cold weather and when its rainy
I drive a 2007 yamaha R6 when its mild in the morning and warm in the afternoon. And on days when I dont have to drop off or pickup my Son from daycare.
I drive a 2003 Mitsu Spyder GT when its above 50 and sunny. I even added a car seat so I could drive it on daycare days.

I have a wierd matrix on the fridge to help remember what days to take what vehicle...(kidding)

By spreading my drive time across 3 vehicles, I can go upwards of a month before I need to fill up. The downside is, I then fill up 3 at once.
