No guys, we can't use that or somebody's feelings might get hurt.![]()
So apparently, even childish over-simplifications aren't enough? It doesn't take a rocket-scientist to figure out comments such as these stem from threads like the "hello world" thread, but the subject being discussed there wasn't about hurting anyone's feelings, it was about seeing things from another viewpoint and realizing that even well-meant suggestions (using the search function) can be viewed two different ways.
I personally can't help but see the irony in it being implied by veteran members that a newb is lazy for not using the search function, when veteran members could be viewed as just as lazy for not using his/her knowledge to conduct what should be a quick search based on terminology now known to them to provide an example to a newb of what to search for as it relates to a VX.
Maybe the next search should be for the "give a man a fish vs. teach a man to fish" concept?
Given the number of Ford F-150's rolling around, that site may very well have to deal with an unusually high number of repeat "dumb" questions, but as a website dealing with a substantially lower number of prospective members, shouldn't VX.Info hold itself to a bit higher standard?
Use the search engine yourself and you may notice that those of us who advocate its use are often the ones answering the questions (politely I might add). Maybe you'd like to start devoting more of your posts to answering questions, and less to defending the (supposed) downtrodden?![]()
for some reason just because some really nice people who ar emembers on this site have on a pretty regular basis have helped people out of their goodness are now expected to continue to be an eternal resource for others who just can not be bothered to try a little work themselves. I dont count myself as part of those friendly folf Im too crotchety but I know I dont mind answering the people who have said they have tried searching as I do those that ask the most basic question that can be found in multiple threads.
I beleive though by telling them to try the search they will learn the search and be able to help themselves and not expect others to just keep answering their questions.

I, personally, belong to many forums (this one just happens to be my favorite). I search thru them all to find needed info. For one, I learn more that way. Secondly, it allows me to ask questions afterward as a more informed individual which helps, not only myself, but everyone else who searches after me. LONG LIVE THE SEARCH! No one is saying that using the search function is a bad thing, only that ways of promoting it could be improved upon. If that happened, maybe things could get to the point where there would be no downtrodden to defend in the first place.
