Just had a super turbo (2.25" in-0ut) installed today. Much quieter than I was expecting.

Really not much sound @ idle IMO, but does get a little more aggressive when I put my foot in it...

Can hear the S/C spin up much better than before.

The ol' Borla was shot, something came apart internally, & was making a nasty rattle. I removed the "strainer" from the tip as well, & it's still a little quiet for my taste in mufflers, but I'll adjust.

    Overall, very happy.

Funny you should post this, my Borla setup may have developed a rattle recently as well, tho I'm not sure yet if its coming from the muffler, sounds more like the cat converter, just not sure yet. Definitely somthing exhaust related tho. Only really happens annoyingly when I first start up the VX.

How does the Dynomax compare to the Borla sound-wise?

IMO, it's about 1/3 less loud.

That said, my Borla had seen better days, it was cracked @ the front flange, welded, then cracked again in the same place, so that was adding to the db level, as well as "cracking" during decel. As noted earlier, there was a definite rattle inside the body of the muffler, also, when I removed the "strainer" from the stock tip, some old/carboned up batting fell out too...so much for the "million mile warranty"...

Now, I can hardly hear any exhaust note on decel.

Overall, it still has a healthy note on accel, just not as much, & I kinda miss that...

Also, I found some real dyno charts(hopefully impartial) that showed a significant bump in both HP & torque, something I never found for Borla.

    Wink

I've had mine on for at least a couple of year now. Very happy with it. Also, I ordered mine from Summit Racing and got it cheaper, delivered to my door than buying it from the parts stores. Summit delivered it for free & no tax. Cost me $59. I had Monroe's install it which involved splicing in larger diameter piece leading into and a larger diameter tailpipe leading out. I thought it felt spunkier after I drove it after the install. Like she got a tune-up.

I particularly like the sound of it around 1700-1900 rpms....has a bit louder and lower growl...not ricey.

I keep hoping somebody will post a review of the Dynomax VT muffler, the butterfly valve thing seems like a smart solution to the conflicting problem of wanting growl at WOT with a normal note at idle/cruise. I looked under the VX this morning and the stock muffler is looking pretty homely under there. It must rust 10x faster than the rest of the vehicle.

    Well...it IS 11 yrs old...

This is just my opinion, but I'm skeptical about anything enclosed in a container that collects carbon for a living. I just don't see it as something that's going to function properly for very long.
The super turbo is plenty quiet at idle & cruising speed IMO.
When I drove Hunny Girl to the grocery today, she was very pleased with the reduction in cabin noise... and commented: "I won't have to yell for you to hear me any more".

Of course my reply was: "HUH?"...

If the VT is interesting to you, then THIS will really stick in your head...

More like stick it to my wallet. Cool but way too pricey - the VT muffler is so much cheaper that it's almost worth a try just to see how it sounds.

I went with the AeroTurbine AT2525XL. I LOVE the way it sounds from the outside, but it's a little too resonant in the cabin for my taste.

That said, I saw, listened, and even DROVE Gussie's true-dual Dynomax SuperTurbo setup and can say with confidence that it sounds freakin' incredible. VERY quiet on start and idle and ordinary driving - but when you get on it, it growls like a badass.

I'd like to end up somewhere in between where I am now and where Gussie's is, honestly. So I ask the experts out there, will adding a second muffler in a dual exhaust setup quiet the note somewhat, given the reduced flow through each muffler? Or is the opposite the case, that adding the second will just make it louder and more resonant in the cabin?

OR... third option - just Dynamat the hell out of my interior?

    Decisions decisions...

    Hey vend !

My brother-in-law changed the factory muffler on his isuzu axiom for a magnaflow months ago and he didn 't like ( neither i ) the sound under acceleration and @ cruising speeds just like yours so he swap it out for a dynomax and he love hit although is a bit louder, but not noisy

I know what you are looking for,the problem is our low compression V6 engine,The 3.5L just don't have what's needed to get a perfect so to speak exhaust set up tune.

I personally would love something like how the chevy trailblazer SS or the cherokee SRT8 sounds, but our engine isn't a V8

If you split the two banks and let them run independently each side would flow with less pressure, that's why my VX is quiet @ idle and driving at city speed.

In theory if you replace the OEM muffler for a good high performance one leaving the two exhaust banks meeting @ the Y connection the exhaust flow increases and obviusly gets louder then with the resctricted OEM

Dynomax have youtube videos testing all its mufflers so you can listen to them .

    This, 100000%.

What do you think if I go true duals with the Aeroturbine? I'm thissssssss close to pulling the trigger just to freakin' try it.

Otto where you are being my friend ?

I bought the two dynomax mufflers @ amazon.com in what i named the steal-deal of the year.

    Both mufflers for $ 85.00 + shipping,total : $ 107,00.

Not sure if you can strike with a deal like again right now,but worth the try.

Installation of both mufflers was around $ 100,00 including pipes and tips.

Ya' might want to consider a "cross-over" pipe between the two dedicated dual pipes???
