Have you ever tried this? Punch in the OEM specs and what you're considering and see if helps you visualize all these numbers.

From marlins post, his wheels have an inch of back spacing more than factory. He is also running 34" tires. You should be fine

Are you SURE about the backspacing? It sounds like you think OEM backspacing is 4.5"? As I posted, 5" is my calculation and 5.5" is what the chart says (that's linked at the beginning of the giant whee/tire thread). IOW, Marlin's backspacing is the same as factory.

OTOH, with 9" wheels, I'd think they'd stick out more!

Marlin, can you confirm your backspacing as compared to factory?

BTW: Is there a (simple) adjustment for wheel lock-to-lock if there's any contact in that regard?

That's exactly why he's running the Goodyear Wrangler Kevlar MT/R.

Not to mention why you air down before offroading. Tires will take a lot of abuse/flex at 5-10 PSI.

The sidewalls on those tires are close to an inch thick, and if I somehow do manage to damage one, they get replaced for free

The VX has the best turning circle of any vehicle i've owned, so loosing a few degrees wouldn't hurt if you need too.

Just for your information, my Isuzu is running an 8" wheel with a zero offset and 265 75 16 tyres. The tyre edge sits pretty much inline with the wheel arch (fender )

The other thing to add is that with my set up and i presume others that haven't increased their off set out beyond the arches is that i get full travel of the suspension using the OEM bump stops, my wheels dont rub at all.

I dont have any real front on pics so heres a close one

And articulation wise, you can see things tuck in nicely.
