    Thumbs up New Tires

Just purchased a set of Kumho ECSTA tires, size 255/55/18. A great street tire. They handle like the VX is glued to the street. They are very quiet and have a good looking tread pattern. The speedometer is only off by 1%. I have not had a chance to drive them in the rain so I will let you know about wet handeling and braking.

    Hotflyer Howard,

I am curious why you decided on 255/55/18's? Other posters indicated that 285/60/18's fit! However, these tires might be too wide for stock rims--I think some might debate this. I decided on 265/60/18 Kumhos (I really hope they fit) and they are supposed to arrive Monday.

The consensus is that these are very good tires whatever the size!

    Thumbs up New Kumho Tires

    Hi Jed,

    I got the 255/55/18 because:
V-Rated / Stronger construction, they actually weigh 6 lbs more per tire
Sectional width is only .2 inches different from 265/60/18
It was the closest to original diameter / less speedo error

But anyway you cut it, Kumho is an exceptional tire. I know you will be happy with your tires. Good luck with yours.

    Thumbs up

I have the 285/60's and I love them. They're really big compared to the stock tires, people comment on them all the time, and yes they definitely make you feel like you're glued to the road. I think I've posted this before though, do not try to play in the mud with these, they make you feel stupid, and look stupid... all your friends will say "your truck sucks off road" which is obviously not the case.... I have a separate set for off road, but for on road summer driving I love these tires...

Did you have to trim your cladding for your 285/60/18's?

Nope, they fit without any trimming at all. I also have 265/75/16's that didn't require any either. My two sets are about the same size. one for off road, one for on... btw, they just clear in the front, but like 1/4 inch in the front...

    Trim cutting

When i had the Nitto 265/75/17 installed 31.6 inches I had to cut the trim about 1/2 inche off on the inside were it rubbed. I also have to lift the rear since it rubs when going of road. The Kumo 265/60/18 are only 30.6. so they probably would not rubbed.

will post in my gallery when i have them installed on my stock rims
