Rear Diff Oil and LSD Additive

Hi All, i guess this is mostly aimed at the UK owners unless the oil manufacturer is global.....

I need the 85w90 oil for the rear diff and the LSD additive. Not sure what product to get and what LSD to add? Rear wheels are binding at low speed turns and think the service guys put incorrect oil in.

    Thanks all

I don't think that there is anything special about either the lubricant or the additive. As a matter of fact, I've seen the lubircant available with the additive already in there. Lemme know if there is a particular brand that you want to use that is not available UK. I'm sure we can work something out to get it to you.

BTW, since y'all drive on the wrong side of the road, the additive may be referred to as DSL over there.

Sounds like you still need to find the LSD additive. Is it mentioned anywhere on the bottle?

The guy at the oil place said this was a combination of the two, and the additive wasn't neccesary ? It wont arrive until thursday. I'll call them on the morning to make sure.

I'm not too sure about just what the LSD additive is or what it does (Google didn't help). Hopefully a gear head will chime in & shed some light on the subject.

Thanks for the help Tom. I'll definately clear it up before i change the oil as i think thats why the diff is binding a bit in the first place

    From a product website:

    Limited Slip Additive

If you get a "chatter" from the rear axle when starting from a stop, and turning at the same time, you need to add this additive to your rear end oil. This is due to the clutches in the diff. locking and un-locking. The Limited Slip Additive assists with the applying and releasing of the clutch plates. One container/part number needed per rear end oil change.

That doesn't sound like a fair trade. A bell for some oil?

I did the diff oil today and its working as it should again, the oil was black and had the consistency of treacle, nasty!!!!

I had this 'changed' just 5 months ago, is it possible it can be that black and gunky in that time?

Had an interesting time getting oil into the diff, ended up using a shampoo bottle to squeeze oil through the hole.
