    I Got One,i Got One!!!

    Hey Gang,
Well i finally found a vx at a pretty good price....i think.
won it on ebay sunday night.here is the link
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/99-IS...item33611205e2.
i wanted one with the gray interior,so if there is anybody within an hour of me that would wanna swap out red for gray let me know.I think it is door panels, seats and steering wheel.
If not i'll live with the red.
Anybody that has done the cup holder mod let me know if this will work
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/JB-La...item4aa3f0c983.
I 'm sure I'll be on here askin all kind of annoying questions so please bare with me for a while.
    Thanx
    Ken

I don't think you got robbed or anything, clearly there were other people who were also willing to pay near that much for it (which is the truest determiner of value of course). I do worry a little bit that the reported accident happened only a year ago and the seller made absolutely no mention of it in his description. I guess you'll just have to wait and see if everything's okay with the body, frame, etc. That's the unfortunate thing about AutoCheck, you generally don't get any indication of the severity of the damage.

All in all though it looks good! WRT the interior, I think you're going to be waiting awhile to find all those pieces (doors, seats, steering wheel) for sale, let alone someone willing to trade out their entire interior. You never know though, many of us make it our mission to hunt down obscure VX stuff on the net, so you may find what you need sooner than later.

    Welcome to the addiction!

    ken, congrats on your purchase!

if you arent a fan of the red interior, there are mods you can do to make it more bearable. there are some photos floating around of a VX that had its red door panels painted black with some red accents that looked great! and it would reduce the amount of red in the interior. other than that persistance will be the only hope for changing out your entire interior.

as far as the cupholder, if it fits a standard din slot, it should work in the VX. you may need to trim the lower bezel a very minor amount.. problem is that the VX din slots are not friendly for that style cup holder. the top din slot has the overhang directly above it, and dash angles back slightly to the lower din slot so all you can really fit in that style cupholder is a can or small cup. search for "trooper cupholder" for an isuzu factory cupholder that mounts to the back of your center console

To modify the interior color, just get some "Wet Okole" seat covers for the front buckets; a steering wheel cover, and remove the rear seat entirely (or put Wet Okole covers on the rear seat, too). Simple.

here is what the guy said about the accident
"I honestly don't know why the Autocheck score is 58. It's not a repo, and the accident it was in was a minor collision with a guard rail last November as a result of a wet road and some tires that my Mechanic failed to tell me had a bubble in them. The car drove away and the damage was nearly all cosmetic, it consisted of a replaced bull bar and bracket for the front bumper, the front cladding, one new head light and turn signal, and the only mechanical damage was to the engine fan housing, which we replaced the entire unit on. I also replaced all four tires. There was no frame damage and the impact was not enough to even set off the airbags. These trucks are built like tanks to be honest. All the damage was repaired and everything on the truck has worked perfectly for nearly a year since. So there's not much more I can tell you than that. As stated in the description, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the vehicle, everything is operating at 100%. If you are local you are welcome to come and check out the vehicle in person and take it for a test drive. I hope I have reassured you, and happy bidding, feel free to ask any more questions you may have".

Grats on the purchase. There was some good advice given on modifying your interior if you can't find anyone to swap with. I know I would have a problem living with the red interior ... but that's just me.

    Welcome to the family.

I kinda like my interior. If I ever change it, it will be to match a new paint color.

Cool, fender benders are part of life and if that's all it was then no big deal.

+1 - I don't have them (yet) but they look great on other members' rides. Here's the link to their site:

Gongrats! It's great to see another PA owner in our ranks. You can't go wrong with a '99 astral. I love the red interior. That makes it zippy. I wouldn't want the gray, but as you can see, everybody has their own tastes here.

Here's my original window sticker. Yours woulda been exactly the same except for the dealer name and VIN.
