I replaced the CV axles and put in good drive flanges. The popping persisted. I yanked the front drive shaft and now have a 2 wheel drive VX. Not ideal, but its drivable again!

16 years! I've had it longer than I haven't!
It also received a sibling in a 1996 Rodeo right before Christmas

No I haven't. I have been driving it without the front driveshaft, so it hasn't been popping. Eventually, I need to get into the front diff and see if it is the problem or if its in the transfer case.Originally Posted by arcobarco
