I'd also think that a person would be better off having the nav setup seperate so that any passengers helping to follow the given directions would have it easier without having to turn the mirror away from the driver.

I do like the integrated backup camera and Homelink options though.

I would agree with this statement for any other car, but I honestly use my rear-view mirror so little because of the lilliputian rear window we have, that I would rather remove it for greater forward visibility....

I think it is an awesome idea, original rearview mirror is of little use, and l've also been thinking of switching it to GPS+backup camera device... so l look forward to you doing all the hardwork, posting resules and me stealing your idea

For my backup mirror, i use Rydeen rear view mirror with built in GPS and rear view camera and hands free bluetooth.

That thing looks even bigger than the one Marlin posted! It says it's 10" in width; surely the OEM one isn't anywhere near that right?
