"I Fixed My Sig" aka "Zu Trio" aka "My Name is Bart and I'm a Zuoholoic"

First off, I just need to extend a HUGE THANKS to VXKat. She was instrumental in making this happen for me smoothly. Thanks, Sue. VX.info ROCKS!

This all started a couple weeks ago. I was sitting at work, bored, as per usual, and like an idiot, I was cruising Craigslist for "Isuzu". As it happened, this POS popped up.

I thought to myself, "you know, I've never driven an Isuzu car, so what the heck, I'll go take a test ride."

This poor 89 Impulse was BEAT. Whoever owned it prior did some HORRID things to it. It had a lot of problems, both mechanical and cosmetic. Despite this, the car was really quite a treat to drive, and I was immediately hooked with the the Impulse bug. I now wanted one. So, natually, I joined Isuzone.org to get more info on the (JR) Impulse. After a few rounds on my thread, I got a PM from a guy named John down in Arizona who claimed to have a 1987 Special Edition RS Turbo Impulse he was thinking of selling. We went back and forth for a couple weeks, and the rest is history.

I contacted VXKat and she kindly agreed to take a look at the car for me and facillitate delivering payment. This way, I had a trustworthy 3rd party opinion to help me.

The deal was done and I took delivery of the car yesterday. She is in amazing condition for her age. The interior is damn near spotless, and everything works. She needs new tires and an alignment, as well as a little TLC here and there, but all is great with the car. Only 55,000 original miles!! Crazy.

I'm sure some of you will immediately wonder what happened to the Falcon. Well, nothing yet, but she is on the chopping block. In a nut shell, I decided the Falcon restoration is much more than I want to handle. The restoration of this car will likely cost me $40,000+ and several years of my life. I came to this realization a while back, and I have been trying to sell it for the last 5 months or so. I'm going to loose my arse on the deal, but we all make mistakes. Someday, I may buy another one, in much better condition. But for now, I am going to bask in full Isuzu geekdom with my Trio of Zus.

Not my style (I've thought about the next generation before) but damn that is CLEAN for a 1989 car. Congrats!

Right the F#@k on man! Is the turbo in good shape?
Cars designed by spreadsheets make sense. Cars designed by engineers make history.

Its actually an 87, and it only has 55,000 miles!!!

Do you really like the 2nd gen Impulses? I've looked at them and looked at them and for the life of me I just can't bring myself to like em...but I think that comes from me not liking much from the 90s.

AFAIK, yeah, it's functioning great. This is my first vehicle with a turbo, so I have a lot to learn about how they work and how to maintain them. Feel free to school me with whatever you know!

Yeah, I suppose so. I think it was destiny.

I just KNEW someone was going to make a comment like that. Honestly, I REALLY wanted a black 89 with a sun roof, but when this one became available, I just knew it was the one. There are so few of these for sale nowadays, and most of the ones out there are riced out and hacked up. So this was a choice opportunity. I had to pull the trigger. And I must say, the white looks good. I love the retro rims.

    Congratulations!

    Congrats Bart!!

I offer up this link in honor and celebration of your new acquisition. Not as cool as the Impulse but still a great isuzu ride in history.

I remember you posting that one before, always fun to watch.

And if I'm not mistaken, that's how square dancing got it's start.

DUDE! You must be getting older quicker than I thought. From black to tan to white in just 2 years - I know we joked about it before but seriously man 'he who dies with the most toys' only leaves more for those left behind to deal with...

That thing is awesome! There is an RS turbo one (also white) in a local junkyard that I dream of saving someday. They're definitely cool little cars!

Most importantly of all, when are we going to lunch in this thing? So tell me, you think you can burn Linda's Porsche with this?

I dunno, I don't think it is faster than the Porsche, but it does have the turbo and 5-speed advantage. I think it could give her a good run, but the Porsche is over 10 years newer!! I guess I will have to see someday!

Lunch, anytime! Just call! Or dinner (I've kinda been packing my lunch to save bucks and loose weight).

Awesome Bart! I've been looking around for one for awhile as well, I just want to jam a flux capacitor in one and go back to 1955 lol. Congrats on the find, how long until you slap some new rims on it and start the modding And aren't turbo cars just a blast to drive!

The more I look at it the more it looks "ahead of its time" I think it aged well. It's similar to the VW Scirocco, Glad to see it go to a GREAT HOME, and not scooped up by a punk kid who would have destroyed it!

On a side note, how does one score a job that they can sit around,be bored, and buy cars they dream about You got it made Bart....Must be nice
