We both love the RX-8, but the MSRP is not $24k, but $32k. Again... maybe if we lived in a warmer part of America. I told her that she could drive my VX in the Winter if she was nervous driving whatever she ends up getting. I drove a Fiero for many years.

Did you mean to put RWD? I like the new hyundai genesis coupe. They start at 22,500 and are kind of sporty... Not 4 door though. Oh and it is RWD

Technically you could call the RX-8 a 4 door since it has 2 suicide doors in addition to the ones in front, but as already stated it is a RWD sports car that needs a new engine about every 80k miles.

$32K is new, $24K is used. Talk about brutal depreciation!

Subarus are nice, good reliability, awd option, just pick one

OK, so it's not a 4- or 5-door, and it costs $50k, but it's definitely unique and would get around Chicago without too much trouble...

Perhaps not the most exotic idea, but I am pretty happy with my V6 RAV4. 269 hp, and gets 26-30 mpg highway. And she really goes when you step in it, I have occasionally engaged in some freeway on-ramp races Definitely not an off-roader, but the AWD really works in the snow. Tows 3500 pounds if you are so inclined.
