    my iphone/ipod touch in-dash install

so in the land of all digital media, i found that my headunit is prett much worthless. I dont use CD's or DVD's any more at all. the only thing i use is my iphone for movies and music. I always have to plug it in and i hate having wires everywhere. So i decided to make a actual single DIN car dock, and move my headunit to the bottom DIN opening. It came out very well. No more wires. I can watch movies and listen to my music in my dash and just use my headunit for EQ and FM radio. I made it out of plastic from the cover of a spiral notebook, some plexiglass, LED's and a telephone jack enclosure. The cool part is the Apple logo lights up like a mac book when you turn the lights on. Dont have any pics with the phone in it yet. let me know what you think.

Nice! Super clean lookin, does an Ipod stay in there good too? My bad eyes looks like just the connector holds it there.

Yeah the dock is the only thing holding it in place. But so far it's been pretty solid and I haven't had any problems with it. But if it becomes an issue I may just have to put some Velcro on the back. Since the new iphone is flat it sits nicely on little ledge above the vents It definitely came out a lot cleaner than I expected.

    Very cool.

Love the way this looks! Any instructions on how you did it? When (if) I get my VX, I'd love to completely rip you off and do something similar...ha ha
