    new disc changer location

We have a 12 disc changer that was installed by previous owner. It was cleverly hidden under a plastic tool box with the bottom cut out, so it didn't look too obvious.
After our first trip to the store, I realized that floor space is a valuable commodity in the VX, so I decide to move the changer.

After removing the interior panel, I was able to then also remove the plate that holds the jack tools in order to make an extra 1 1/2" or so.

I cut the back of the storage pocket out, put a couple strips of sound deadener in remaining section, and the disc changer fit nice and snug.

One of the bigger time consuming parts was cutting the pocket door to create a nice fitting bezel to go back on around the changer.

Now the floor space is recaptured and the changer looks snug as a bug in a rug.......

    Arrow

I have a 10 disc changer right behind the center console
Don't know but cutting any plastic of the panels is not my stuff.

Anyways it would look alright if you can paint the expossed face of the changer in black to match the panels.
    Dakar was just the begining.

i'm not really into it. i think cds are kind of a dead format compared to mp3s and all. i figure an ipod would be 100 times easier to deal with instead of having to stop while you're driving and go in the trunk to change your cds. i mean if you don't really listen to music very much then i guess that would be alright. but then again why a 12 disc changer and not just a single din cd player?
anyways i'm an ipod guy and i just plug right in and hit shuffle and i'm ready to go!
i've got hundreds of cds that have been sitting in my closet now for the last 5 or so years. i couldn't tell ya the last time i listened to any of them.

The sub fits perfectly in that spot... ends up a couple inches away from the seats.

As far as cd's go... they won't be dead anytime too soon. Anyway, they are a digital format. You get just as good sound quality as any other new format. I'm just workin' with wha I've got instead of spending money that I don't have... (disbility doesn't quite give me as much as I used to make)

I've been through 8-tracks, cassettes, and now cd's.

New music pretty much sucks today... it all sounds the same. I end up listening to slightly older stuff anyway.

hey "brainwashed"... as long as your old cd's aren't all Kenny G, Dixie Chicks and Clay Aiken, you can always send them out to me.

ha! you probably wont like any of the music i jam. i listen to hardcore punk. bands like the cromags, the misfits, verse, the first step, youth of today, ect...
as far as mainstream music today is concerned. i'd rather stab myself in the eye than have to listen to any of that crap. i feel the same was about pretty much any top 40 hogwash from any era.

brainwashed, you and Triathlete (Billy) should get together and talk music...I've heard all of that, or something similar, issuing from Billy's VX out in Moab many times.
