The Mercedes Hexawheel reminds me of the US Army M561 "Gama Goat" 6WD vehicle which had an articulating center joint. I remember the M561 Gama Goat quite well when I was active duty, and I always refused to ride in them. They had a very bad reputation of easily rolling over when traversing sloped terrain at an angle or when negotiating curves on the street/highway. It injured/killed more US servicemen who rode in it from accidents during peacetime than any of those who used them in combat. It was noted to be the most dangerous military wheeled vehicle in the entire US Army inventory.
I love the postings of the FJ-40's. I personally own a 1978 FJ-40 (purchased in 1980) in which I've named TOJO and it's still in prestine original condition with only 70K original miles on it. FJ-40's are not freeway friendly (very squirrely), and are best used in an off-road environment where they excell with no equal. I'm really glad I've hung onto mine after all of these years.
