Awesome! I used to have a 4.3L Jimmy 4x4 2 door that I wanted to do a V8 swap. That old motor had a killer knock to it. I never got around to doing it though I ended up trading it in (giving it to the dealer) for my new Escape back in 2003.
    Sounds like a good time.

I am super excited! Ascinder and I were talking options this morning - for the money, this motor and trans package I'm looking at is an absolute bargain!

LOL you sick cusser! Those aren't women, they're trajedies!
Just bought the motor and trans combo from a junkyard 4 miles away from home - they are delivering it tomorrow. I worked a deal that states I can go back for what items I need to make this swap work! $2000 for the motor, trans, comp, harness, elec throttle control, fuse box, cats, and drive accessories including the A/C compressor... I think I'll take the gauges and digital warning thingamabob later too.

So here's that roof scoop for the snorkel system I mentioned Justin. And here's the current topless Patrol too.

    It's Spazz Dog!!!
The Patrol looks better - it should since that is why YOU are cheating!
Ya think that scoop looks a bit big up there on the VX tho? Actually maybe that would look better right at the front of a roof rack...

A couple more bolts and the rad. support will be ready to remove.
Mechanic tip of the day - when you are removing an engine and have to break to go sit on the pot... don't rest your forearms on your thighs cuz you have to wipe away a lot more shi...

OH send me the info on that fuel pump when you get a chance too please!

It's the camera lens(Iphone) I think, besides, it's got to keep 550 ponies breathing.

Here's the LINK for the pump; a little pricier than I remembered, and I think they make similar ones with a little less GPH output for lower HP applications this one supports to 700HP I think, so a little overkill for you. You may want to just grap the walbro 255lph for the price.

    Here's today's progress...

    My stripper.

No idea why the camera went fuzzy but a few of my "this is how it should go back together" pics went this way.

    My whore.

Zeus...for a little inspiration you should pick up the new issue of Crawl Magazine for the Cover/feature vehicle. A lime green Chevy S10 on Rocks and 47's...verry nicely done!

    Happy 4th... and 5th!

Here's my buddy Spencer with his cheese eatin grin. We were able to plop out the t-case onto the jack and roll it out smoothly... that explains the grin.

T-case and front axle out, by this time the exhaust had been removed and disposed.

    Here she comes...

    ...and there she goes...

    Awesome guys.

Beau, the Patrol looks awesome with the top off. Must be fun.

Justin, you are making some progress, eh? It's giving me flashbacks to the Trooper motor swap!

Yeah, it's comin along. I get slowed down by other people and that bugs me. The junkyard locked my Jeep in their lot overnight (July 3rd) when they closed at 2 pm even though they told me they would have it all pulled out by noon. The new stuff is STILL at the junkyard! Luckily they didn't clip any of the wires when removing everything... wish I would have been able to remove all that stuff myself cuz now I have a box of bolts and don't know where they all go, wires unlabeled, and the motor and trans separated. They also said they couldn't sell used cats so I have to figure out what to do about that still. I will pick up all the goods and start placing the motor and trans between the frame rails and checking clearances this weekend...

I have 4 BFG MT's with no more than 200 miles and lifetime warranty on them. I took them in to have them swapped on my new set of used 15" 6-lug rims and they found a pin hole in the sidewalls of two tires. Since BFG discontinued that style MT I can't match my set of tires anymore. LAME! I wanted the old style... but they are 10+ years old so maybe its for the best. Now I am tire shopping at Discount Tire since they told me they would be willing to prorate the two good tires and reimburse me for the ruined two. So I should only be paying for four new warranties and maybe 10% of cost on two other tires. So now I am wondering if I should get new wheels too, in 16" flavor!

The axles should arrive next week and when they do I will be taking measurements to find out what offset and backspacing I am looking for...
