We stay in Craig every year on the way to & from Moab, the power should come back as you come down in altitude.
As long as you're not getting any CEL's, you should be fine.
FWIW, I usually get a few CEL's per day when travelling at altitudes above 5000 ft. Many times, right after filling with fuel.
Having a scan gauge for reading/clearing codes on the fly is well worth the cost, if only for piece of mind...
