    windshield support beam

I'm in the process of installing an overhead console, and misjudged the height above the headliner, ive got some interference from the "beam" that goes across the top of the windshield

I am thinking about notching it out to fit the console, it would be a notch about 1/2" deep and 6-7" long

would this be safe? i know that its never a good idea to cut a roof support, but since it is a small area im wondering if i could get away with it... any insight?

if that doesnt work i will probably wind up making a fiberglass trim panel to drop the console down an inch or so to get the clearance i need

From a structural engineering point of view...

Oh wait, I'm not a structural engineer...

Cut as much as you want, just make sure you never roll it & you should be OK...

    In other words...

Sorry Eric, I'm kinda bored & waiting for my shift to get over @ 0800.
