    Rumble from my VX

    Hi folks,

I have a deep rumble from deep inside the VX ... mistook it for tyre noise at first but that certainly isn't it. Seems to come and go a bit, but it is hard to tell with ambient noise.

I suspect it is BAD news but perhaps there is a magic known cure....

My first guess would be wheel bearing, & if past experience counts for anything, I'd guess rear axle.

Especially if it sounds almost like distant thunder.

    Another possibility...

I recently started experiencing a deep-feeling engine vibration, and was worried that it was serious. It turned out to be the cooling fan bracket. The bearings were shot, and I had about a 1/4" of lateral play at the fan. The bearings are non-renewable, so I ordered a new bracket and serpentine belt. About $200 and about an hour to replace. I hope your problem is as easy to fix.......
