Put a smiley after you say that Bub.
Sounds like there are some pro/cons:
+ some HP (maybe 10-20 HP)
+ MPG (since the engine is driving the fan)
= cooling
-expensive
-don't fix what ain't broken
I'm curious about this because last year I had overheating problems on the trails. I replaced my fan clutch and the problem was fixed but the new clutch was insanely loud (torqflo), later I replaced it with a new quietier clutch (hayden). I'm convinced that the VX cooling system can be better but i'm not sure the electric fan system is the fix.
I have mixed feelings on this conversion because I would hate to spend the money and time on this conversion and end up with new problems or no benefits.
I did an electric fan conversion, but the fan was from a 94 plymouth voyager, custom mounts, everyday wiring harness and relay. I can't say if it is any quieter, or gave me more HP, but it does run a bit cooler. I said a bit.
So, was thinking this might be that much better is all. Thanks for all the input though. Still not sure if I will do this.
