    TOD System info please

    Hi Guys

I have now moved on to the TOD system issues..

When it is in TOD the green AUTO light flashes on and off until I get a red check light appear under the TOD display.

I have spoken to GreaseMonkey and he has been more than helpful with sorting my o2 sensor problem and now with this issue, he has checked for me and when he is in TOD his AUTO light is solid, is this the same for everyone else?

Also does anyone have a photo of the TOD compressor in its location?

Hi mate, not sure if its of any help but my TOD ‘AUTO’ light flashes like that when going from 2wd to auto and auto to 4wd (an back), it flashes whilst the selection is made and then the ‘AUTO’lights permanently to let you know the selection has been successful. Is 4wd and 2wd working? If it is, it could be a sensor isn’t telling the TOD brain the transfer box has reached the selected setting?

The AUTO light never stays on and no nither 4WD or TOD works, if I turn tight it clunks and knoks forward when they are selected.
The TOD front wheel % display indicators on the dash are never on, thats why I was wondering if the compressors working, if I have one? (cant find it, or photos of where it should be).

I was always under the impression that the 2-4 Hi JDM VX's & US Troopers had a vacuum operated control...

Yup its a vacumn operated front axle - from the inlet manifold vacuum
Same as the UK frontera B
I did say to ask on the ITOCUK.co.uk site as they have loads of info about which wires and pipes do what
    cheers

There are vucumm hoses on the front driff and there is one on top (front) of the transfer case. (i found that one last nite) and i think there is one on the rear diff too.

That elctromagnet one... i read last night what it does and my brain just is not retaining the info...

I not sure if the front diff hose goes to the manifold or not, i will take a photo later today of what i thought were the out let for the hoses...

FWIW...there are breather hoses on the front & rear diffs too.
The front ends as a loop between the air box & the brake fluid reservoir.
The rear is fastened to a frame cross member with a breather/check valve(?) on the end.

The front axle has a vacuum operated clutch which is why we can change to 4wd at speeds upto 50 mph - the same as the trooper III and the frontera B
If you ask on ITOC there are guys who know the exact vacuum pipe locations and colours for the clutch pump its normally just a split pipe or siezed/stuck actuator rod
The electromagnetic clutch is what sends the power to the front prop on the JDM - through the internals of the transfer box - US versions don't have the option unless they fiddle with the electrics -
Muddy****er i have sent you a shed load of info about the SOTF strip and rebuild stuff etc
    cheers

This is some of the vacuum operated SOTF stuff for a Trooper from my dealer parts CD.

#147 is the vac tank and #137 is the axle actuator. Make sure the electrical connection and vac hoses #142 are good at the axle actuator, along with all those other hose connections.

Ya should be able to find what you're lookin' for at www.myisuzuparts.com. Just look up a '97 Trooper.
