I was thinking about this thread on the way into work this morning (I know, I'm obsessed) and was wondering if anyone had tried the aftermarket bumper yet. Mine is starting to rust through and I'm about to do my timing belt so I figured that while I had the bumper cover off I would replace the bumper itself. I'm all for going OEM, but $300+ for a bent piece of tubing seems a little steep to me.
If no one has given it a shot I may be the guinea pig.

I will be getting the after market bumper, but I am waiting for the snow to melt so I can install it. It's a bit cold around here to start taking my front end apart, But when I do I will let you know how it turns out.

Looks like I will be getting that after-market bar in the near future. Same story... saw the left one hanging loose, and broke off in my hand with no effort. The right hand one took some twisting, but came off due to rust as well.
I'm going to order it now...

OK, here's the story so far...
This is a picture of a bumper bar that rusts & falls off (there is one on each side of the VX behind the cladding).
They rust and fall apart...

No real protection behind cladding...
The after-market reinforcement looks like a better design. I hope it fits!
This cancer called RUST is another very good reason to move away from Chicago! Like Cece needs more ammo to use.

That advertises something for sale that they not only do not stock but cant even get in a reasonable amount of time. I am leary of places like this because my suspicious nature says their posting it is at least questionable how can you trust the other parts of their reliability or integrity
