If you have read the comic "Get Fuzzy", the dog in the comic judges whether something (anything) is edible by eating it... and seeing if he gets sick or not. Well, Labs are kinda like that. There is no "off-switch" or fussiness to their appetite, just gobble it down and hang the consequences. Since the D-Con is designed to be tasty to mice, it is no great stretch to think a Black Lab will eat it too...
