    Finally...A Rack on my roof

So I am excited because I finally got a roof rack. Just got home and it was sitting on the porch. It took about 15 minutes to install, assuming I did it correctly. Which brings me to a couple of questions.

Is it really just those four screws that hold everything on?

    and

Any issues with the car wash?

Now I am off to drive around and hope everything is still there when I get back.

    Thanks - Mike

I've gone thru the car wash at least 4 times so far (at 2 different ones) and both had a sign up that says the usual..."we're not responsible for roof racks, etc.."....I was a bit nervous the 1st time going through each, but no problems, the machinery just raised up...but I still don't like the idea, seems like those strips of carpet or whatever they are sure could get stuck and yank it off.

May want to avoid the car washes with the drop down blowers at the end. I'm guessing that those guide wheels could hang on a roof rack.

Kat, you sure are magnanomous about sharing that 'great rack' status.

Edit: Glad you found your purple smiley

The screws arent really what is holding it on. The tab/hooks that hang on to the roof rails are what hold it on. The screws just keep the hooks tight. I added some blue loc-tite when I installed mine to insure no shenanigans.

I used loc-tite on mine too thanks to JAMAS suggesting it the day of installation so far so good.

I woulda thought as many times as you've done it you'd been able to find your way home quicker. Maybe ya ought to try bread crumbs. One additional solution would be work from home then that way you could start to work at 7am and look down at your watch at 7:01am and say man I'm already home....short day.

I usta-could on Thursdays (on line meetings all day) but not lately.

Tried the bread crumbs but all the Sea Gulls started tying up traffic.

I don't usually use the car wash, but with the wonderful Michigan winters and the salt that is used on the roads, the desire to get the undercarriage clean out weighs the negatives. So usually when the temperature rises above 30 I try to get it through to clean off all the underbody. Ten salty Michigan winters have done enough damage that at this point I am just trying to reduce the amount of rust.

In the last 2 or 3 months, a few different members here have located & sold them,..... I found and sold 3, "Daver" sold some and "Capt Crunch" has sold a few. Not sure if Capt Crunch ever sold his 2nd one, here's the post from 1/16/10, maybe contact him to see.
