If/when I do get a full sized spare I was thinking I'd break out the torch and a couple 2x4's and open the top of the basket up an inch and a half then just strip it and rhino line it.

That's so crazy it might just work...

Fits a full size spare no problem.

Only "mod" needed was longer bolts to fit our VX roof bar....and wind 'em down tight to bend the baskets straps to conform to our roof bar shape.

Well, I think the one Jo linked to would be a good idea. That one looks pretty good, and I have seen it first hand on the ORW and it looks good up there.

Looks like it, I have a the same one as you (CrnCnn). Mine doesn't have the peice in the front but otherwise its the same. I bought it because it was cheap, could hold some weight (150LBS), and its flatish. IMHO I like low profile baskets on the VX because they flow better with the body style.

Yeah, I liked that one too. It seems that whenever you find something you really like, it's not around anymore.
